Happy 6th, Sam!!!!

We can hardly believe that he has turned 6.
It almost doesn't seem possible.
We were gifted with the most wonderful introduction into parenthood imaginable.
(Of course we are biased parents, which we make no excuse for!)
6 years ago this amazing person took root into our lives and the experience has been nothing short of unconditional happiness.
Watching him grow into the smart, brave, good hearted, creative, imaginative, resourceful, and handsome young man is what we were born to do.

Happy Birthday my love.

P.S. This picture he asked me to take.
He said, "Mom, get a picture of me and my buck.
This is what I'm going to look like one day holding my buck."

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I leave for my overseas road trip next week.
With my "mommy replacement team" in place, I will be gone for 10 days.
Lots of things to do before I go , like two kids birthdays!!!

I would like to rename March 28th as St. Brian's Day.
He is a brave man.
May the luck of the Irish be with him and the "team".
:)

Spring is in the air.

I just love her.
(And her hand-me-down size 4 slim skinny jeans.)

I love him.
(Even with a mouthful of crazy teeth.)

Their birthdays will be arriving shortly and I'm starting to get sentimental.

Off to the Garden!!!!

Not even sure any of you non- SU types out there saw the incredible game last night.
The SU men's basketball team played their hearts out last night against UConn in the next round of the Big East Tournament. It took 6 overtimes but....
 WE WON!!!!!!!!
http://www.syracuse.com/today/index.ssf/2009/03/su_beats_uconn_in_sixovertime.html

It was quite an upset in the college basketball world.
Anyways, Brian and Steve packed up to head to Madison Square Garden.
SU plays West Virginia tonight.

It's anybody's guess tonight.
Will the boys in orange be rested enough to play
their 3rd night in a row,
especially after lasts night's effort?
Are they still in an adrenaline mode?
Will they be able to hold onto their "free-throw" magic from last night?
We will all find out tonight.
Brian will get to witness it for himself....
the good, bad, or the ugly?

Regardless, any SU fan in this town has their orange on today.
The kids went to school decked out in finest university apparel.
We are all ignoring the fact that it is Friday the 13th.

Drive safe Brian.
Have fun.

The Eye of An Artist

Ultimately everything in life is some form of art.
The art of life can be found in millions of ways.
It's a mom juggling all the responsibilities in her day....
It's navigating , with quick thinking, the best possible route through traffic...
It's learning to create a new meal...
It's in the hug of a good friendship....
It's in the ear of a seasoned listener....
It's in having a "good hair day" by working with what you have....
It's in resourcefulness....
It's being genuinely happy despite the whispers of negativity everywhere...
It's in the learning of how to stretch your means into something more...
It. Is. Simply. Everything.

Watching her pick up the camera, and so naturally holding it the correct way, made me smile.
A natural for sure.
We try to nurture, encourage, and challenge their creative minds.
To see the world around them "outside of the box".
To uncover the hidden layers of life the lie all around them.
To find the beauty, multiple truths, and the untold number of perspectives that are begging to be discovered.
To really challenge themselves to see the overwhelmingly gorgeous hues of the rainbows instead of the easiness of black and white.
Whether it's through photography, music, dance, writing, building, ect.
As long as they're thinking we are happy.

But rest assured... by the time they are 10 they will know all the aspects of aperture, shutter speed, white balance, ISO, depth of field, rule of 3rd's....
Hopefully by that time I will know them too! :)

I have been out of commission the last few days.
Something like the flu.
The kids are somewhat sick too.
Hopefully we are over the hump and will start getting better.
Anyways, my friend from high school and photographer/artist extraordinaire, always puts up little videos of strange things on her website.
While I was logged into her site she had a video with this music attached to it.
The kids heard it and asked if they could do their own video.
So, this one's for you Jenny. I love how you continue to inspire artists of all ages.
.... shake your groove thing!!

** The quality of this video is awfully poor but.... whatever! ***

The Mom Song.
A friend of mine sent this to me.
I just had to share it.
;)
